Quick Escape to Southern Colorado

After 20+ days of temperatures in excess of 100 degrees in Texas, we decided to escape to somewhere cooler.  The closest decent mountains are near Trinidad, Colorado in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.  It was raining when we arrived at Trinidad Lake State Park – which was extremely refreshing.

Capulin Volcano National Monument in New Mexico - we stopped here for a short hike on the way.

Monument Lake, along the historic Highway of Legend. A crispy, cool, and clear mountain lake.

Sunset at Trinidad Lake

Of course, Calvin came along too!
