Holidays

The Christmas holidays were very eventful for Diego and the family.  As it was Dave's last 5 week Christmas vacation from school (in a few short months he will be done with school for the rest of his life . . . hopefully), we tried to cram as much stuff in as possible.  However, it was the first Christmas break that we didn't go to Mexico (apart from the year when Dave was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan).

We spent most of the time in Flower Mound/Lewisville and Diego had a wonderful time being the center of attention of his tios and primos.

After Christmas we flew out to Salt Lake and drove up to Idaho to visit Grandma and Janell.  We had planned that trip a few months prior.  When we arrived Diego had the opportunity to meet his Great Grandma Hyer briefly before she passed away.  It was a very special moment because she had been expected to pass days before we arrived, however, she held on just long enough to meet the only living great-grandchild that she had not yet met.

Her passing and the funeral turned out to be a blessing because it brought all of Dave's family together (minus Uncle Greg who was preparing to deploy to the Middle East), and Diego once again had a wonderful time being the center of attention of his aunt, uncles and cousins.

Here's what we were up to over the holidays:

This is the house where grandpa lived for a time when he was a teenager in Nampa, ID
